Shrub 1.5 m. Young branchlets, petioles, leaf blades below and inflorescences setulose with smooth hairs; young branchlets quadrangular. Leaf blades elliptic, coriaceous and ciliolate-serrulate, glabrous above, 3-nerved. Flowers 5-merous, anthers broadly bipored.

Distribution in Peru:—Paramos, in shrublands at 3350 m.

Specimens examined:— PERU. Piura. Huancabamba: El Carmen de la Frontera, Carretera Huancabamba–Talaneo, entre Salalá y la cumbre de carretera, 3350 m, 5°6’48.4’’S 79°28’21.4’’W, 10 March 2016, F. A. Michelangeli, D. F. Paredes & M. Gavrutenko 2642 (USM, NY).
