Mescirtes kojimai , new species

Type series. Holotype: Male ( TUA), “[ Vietnam] Mt. Lang Biang Lam Dong Prov. 17 February 2011 Hiroaki Kojima leg.”
Description. Male. Body oval, strongly convex dorsally, shiny, closely covered with yellowish-white setae. Coloration of head, pronotum, scutellar shield, elytra, and ventral part of thorax black; antennae, legs, elytral maculations, and abdominal ventrites yellowish-brown; elytral maculations consisting of two pairs of oblong spots and oblique zigzag stripe, forming semicircular.
Head large, flat dorsally, finely punctate; eyes large, prominent; the distance between eyes about 2.9 times as long as the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae (antennomeres X and XI missing in holotype) slightly serrate in antennomeres IV–IX. Pronotum transverse, slightly convex dorsally, punctate as in head; anterior margin straight; lateral and posterior margins gently arcuate; antero- and posterolateral corners obtuse; PW / PL 2.46 . Elytra strongly convex dorsally, widest at the middle, closely and finely punctate; humeral parts slightly projecting dorso-laterally; EL/EW 1.13; EL/ PL 3.71 ; EW/ PW 1.34 ; TL/EW 1.43. Hind wings developed .
Tegmen ( Fig. 5 View Figs ) oblong, with arcuate basal margin, widest at basal 1/4; parameres sparsely punctate, with obtuse apices. Penis ( Figs. 6, 7 View Figs ) long, about 0.93 times as long as tegmen; pala oblong, widest near the base, straightly tapered apically; ventral projection long, anchor-shaped; dorsal projection long, bifid in apical part.
Female. Unknown.
Measurement. Holotype: TL 3.30 mm; PW 1.72 mm; PL 0.70 mm; EL 2.60 mm; EW 2.30 mm.
Remarks. This is species is distinct in having unique elytral maculations (unicolored or with simple spots in the elytra of the other species of this genus) and anchor-shaped ventral projection.
Etymology. The species name is given for Dr. Hiroaki Kojima (TUA) who is a specialist of Curculionidae and the collector of the holotype.
