REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “us” to “a” in the same work.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Micropeza Meigen, 1803 .

FAMILY: MICROPEZIDAE .

REMARKS: This misspelling was corrected in the errata in Wiedemann (1830a: 683).

[ Midas ] Wiedemann, 1828: iii, 239 [1830b: 25; 1831: 23].

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Mydas Fabricius, 1794 or subsequent usage of Midas Latreille, 1797 .

FAMILY: MYDIDAE .

REMARKS: Because there is doubt as to whether Wiedemann was emending Mydas to Midas or following the spelling of Latreille (1797), we prefer to invoke Article 33.5 for the listings of Midas in the Wiedemann works above and treat them as incorrect subsequent spellings. The earliest mention of Mydas Fabricius, 1794 using the spelling Midas that we have found in this study is Midas Latreille (1797: 166) , n. syn.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Mycetophila Meigen, 1803 .

REMARKS: Criteria to make this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.

[ Nemestrina ] Wiedemann, 1818a: 4 [1819a: 13; 1828: 246].

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Nemestrinus Latreille, 1802 or subsequent usage of Nemestrina Latreille, 1809 .

FAMILY: NEMESTRINIDAE .

REMARKS: Although satisfying the criteria as an emendation in the first two works (similar changes in spelling of two or more names from “us” to “a”), the earliest emendation we have found using the spelling Nemestrina is by Latreille (1809: 307) for Nemestrinus Latreille, 1802 , n. syn. A later listing of Nemestrina in Wiedemann (1828: 246) could be considered as an emendation by virtue of the original and changed spellings being printed together and the changed spelling adopted or it could be considered as a subsequent usage of Nemestrina Latreille, 1809 . Thus, we prefer to invoke ICZN Code Article 33.5 and treat all usages of Nemestrina by Wiedemann in the above listed works as incorrect subsequent spellings.
