Remarks.
Introduced for Melania costata sensu Cossmann, 1909, non Olivier, 1804. The name was corrected to " cossmanni " by Neubauer et al. (2014a: 461), which is a justified emendation according to Art. 32.5.1 and 33.2.2. Wenz (1929) considered all records of " Melania costata " from the Pliocene of Slavonia to represent the same species and synonymized them with Melanopsis abbreviata cosmanni . Obviously, he was unaware that Melanopsis croatica Brusina, 1884 is the first available name for them (see also discussion of Melanopsis pseudocostata Oppenheim, 1890).
