[ Holotype: AMNH; ♂ Mesilla Park , Doña Ana Co., New Mexico, USA; May 20, 1900]

Megachile newberryae occurs in the southwestern USA and northern Mexico and specializes on pollen from several plants in the family Fabaceae including Dalea L., Parkinsonia L., and Prosopis L. ( Fowler 2020). We reviewed one male collected in the Lower Colorado Desert in April 1939, and one male in the Gulf Coast in May 1921 (CASC). See fig. 232.
