Diagnosis. Polyps small. Gemmation intracalicinal. Costosepta confluent, except the collines. Columella trabecular, simple or papillose, feebly developed. Dissepiments tabulate. Trabeculae thin.
Remarks. Roniewicz (1976) did not give any specific information as to the size of polyps she referred to as ‘small’, but the dimensions of the corallites of the nominatform of the subfamily ( Meandrophyllia ) are 2–4 mm in diameter.
