39. Mastogloia cf. grunowii Meister Figs 44a, b View FIGURES 35–47

References: Schmidt 1874 –1959, pl. 186, figs 1–7, 11; Voigt (1942), p. 11.

Samples: Moen4_ Halimeda, Moen View in CoL 5_ Padina View in CoL

Dimensions: 25.7–26.9 μm long, 11.5–11.8 μm wide; 29 striae in 10 μm.

Comments: The valve morphology of M. grunowii is very similar to M. hustedtii , but these were distinguished by the partectae structure (Vogit 1942). M. grunowii has the presence of stepped partectae, while M. hustedtii gradual partectae. However, the partectae structure might depend on the cell size ( Stephens & Gibson 1980b). Further study is needed to confirm the taxonomic relationship between M. grunowii and M. hustedtii .
