Description
Head. Antenna of male bipectinate. Chaetosemata not extended.
Wings (Fig. 55). Orange.
Male genitalia (Fig. 204). Uncus: horns present. Gnathos absent. Valva divided into sacculus and costa and a further lobe.
Pregenital abdomen of male. Sternum A8 of male not modified.
Female genitalia (Fig. 205). Anal papillae rounded. Antrum absent. Signum small.
Diagnosis. M. trifida is a distinctive moth with orange wings. The form of the valva is trilobed, but differs from that in Hypephra.
Distribution. Madagascar.
Comments. A trilobed valva occurs also in Hypephyra , but the affinities of Malgassothisa are not established (for further details see Herbulot, 1966 and Krüger, 2001).
