Valid name: Macrotus waterhousii Gray, 1843
Holotype (marked by Peters with a type *): ZMB 2831 View Materials , skin, skull not extracted, male, adult; [western] Cuba; collected by J. Gundlach.
Comment: The original description contains measurements of one specimen only. Presumably the specimen was sent to ZMB by Gundlach after the description was published, since parts of Gundlach’s collection were taken to Germany by Mr. Sezekorn .
