Macrothemis celeno View in CoL (Selys in Sagra, 1857)
We found both adults and nymphs on St. Thomas, only at Spring Road at the spring head. The small adults are brown to black with a reddish thorax. The adults were in sunny, open breaks in the canopy, but always close to the water. Donnelly (2002) stated that this species is rare, giving records on St. Thomas from ‘Lovenlund Creek’ (possibly Mahogany Run ghut), and from St. John at L’Esperance Spring. This libellulid is a Caribbean endemic ( Ramírez et al. 2020).
