Description. Male. Slightly smaller than female. Head. Head not exerted above the pronotal surface. Vertex nearly flat, a little contracted forward in dorsal view, 1.7 times as wide as one eye; anterior margin finely curved forward, slightly protruding beyond anterior margin of eye; anterior part of lateral carina somewhat folded upward; median carina only conspicuous and erected in anterior half; fastigium obtusely rounded in profile; frontal costa nearly straight between lateral ocelli, frontal ridge protruding as arch between antennae, longitudinal furrow 1.1 times wider than first segment of antennae. Antennae filiform, 16 segmented, middle segments 5.2 times as long as wide, inserted between lower margins of eyes. Eyes globose. Lateral ocelli placed at middle of inner margins of eyes.
Thorax. Pronotum tectiform, roof-like, upper margin slightly elevated with swollen base before shoulder and undulated behind shoulder in profile; anterior margin nearly straight; hind process reaching 2/3 of hind femora, apex broad and concave in middle; humeral angle indistinct; prozonal carinae contracted backward; abbreviated carinae between shoulders extremely blurred; external lateral carina almost reaching 3/5 of lower margin of pronotum; lateral lobe of pronotum with posterior angle turning outwards, apex truncated, posterior margins with one concavity (tegminal sinus very shallow). Tegmina and alae extremely degenerated, both hidden beneath pronotum and externally invisible. The fore femur with lower edges slightly undulated, 3.8 times as long as wide; mid femora with lower edges slightly undulated, 3.3 times as long as wide; hind femur stubby, 2.9 times as long as wide, antegenicular and genicular denticles nearly right angled, dorsal part of hind tibia with 7 outer and inner teeth, first tarsal segment of hind legs 1.6 times as long as third one, three pulvilli larger in turn and with apexes obtuse. Abdomen. Epiproct narrowly triangular. Cerci with attenuated apex. Subgenital plate short cone-shaped, apex bifurcate. Coloration. General coloration of body yellowish brown with yellowish brown patches. Hind femora with lower outside completely black. Sternites black bordered by narrow yellowish. Hind tibiae shallow black.
Measurements (mm). Length of body: male 10.0; pronotum: male 7.5; antenna: male 3.3; hind femur: male 6.0.
Specimens examined. Female, holotype, China, Yunnan, Menglian, 22°03’N, 99°05’E, 1470 m alt, 14 Jul. 2009, coll. Ji-Shan XU and Jian-Xiong ZHANG. Male, China, Yunnan, Yuanyang , 23°09.58’N, 102°44.90’E, 1448 m alt, 1 Oct. 2009, coll. Ben-Yong MAO GoogleMaps .
Remark. The species was first reported as Hyboella curvimarginus Zheng & Xu, 2010 , with a single female specimen from Menglian County, Yunnan, China. Then, it was transferred to genus Macromotettixoides by Zha et al. in 2017. One male, collected in October 2009 at Yunyang County, Yunnan, China was believed to be conspecific with the female based on external features. Here, its male was described for the first time.
