Lysilla sp. Londoño-Mesa & Carrera-Parra, 2005:3, Figs 1A–C View FIGURE 1 .

Type material: Holotype ECOSUR 087 View Materials (1) Gavilan Point (18°21'N 87°47'W), Mexican Caribbean , R/V “Edwin Link” Sta. 2785; 25.VIII.1990 GoogleMaps . Paratype UMML 22.1000 View Materials (1) 2 Cc Crystal River , Florida, West coast (28°54'N 82°38'W), 4.XI.1977 GoogleMaps .

Etymology: The species is named caribe since this is the unique species described from this genus present in the Grand Caribbean region.

Description: Holotype complete, 36 segments, 7.5mm long, thorax 2mm long, 0.9mm wide. Body swollen on first 19 segments ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). Tentacular membrane damaged. Tentacles short, with swollen tips. Upper lip projected forward, not connected distally and dorsally to tentacular membrane. Lower lip membranous, wide, thin. Ventral shields reduced to mid-ventral groove along first 6 thoracic segments; abdomen without ventral groove. Nephridial papillae on segments 5–9, near base of notopodia. Nine pairs of notopodia from segment 2, with notochaetae alimbate, smooth, thin ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ); notopodia long, thin, with dorsal notch ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Pygidium smooth.

Staining pattern: Strong staining pattern on lower lip, nephridial papillae (circular with pale center), and ventral shields. Last 17 abdominal segments with thick transverse bands increasing in size to posterior end; these bands are formed by small longitudinal lines close to each other. Remaining structures do not stain.

Variation: Paratype resembles holotype.

Discussion: The second specimen of this species was found in UMML zoological collection, which has allowed completion of the description of Londoño-Mesa and Carrera-Parra (2005). Thus, this species is now named taking into account the comments presented by these authors.

Type locality: Gavilan Point, Mexican Caribbean .

Distribution: Florida and Northern Mexican Caribbean .
