Distribution. Atlanto-Mediterranean ( Bellan-Santini & Ruffo 2003; Christodoulou et al. 2013). The species was reported from Cyprus by Russo (1997), Kocatas et al. (2001) and Christodoulou et al. (2013). In Vasiliko Bay (current study), it is considered as a rare species (FI: 7.14 %).
Ecology. In Vasiliko Bay it was found at depths of 20–35 m (29 + 8 m), in muddy sand substrate with organic matter ranging between 6.265 –8.416 % (7.459 + 1.095 %) and in association with C. prolifera , C. cylindracea and P. oceanica . It was found in stations classified as “moderate” according to the Bentix Index. It was also recorded at a fish farm station (1 individual).
