The occurrence of L. stationis in Thailand is of particular interest, since the genus Limnocythere was thus far reported from several parts of the world, namely Afrotropic, Australian, Nearctic, Neotropic, Palaearctic and Pacific region and oceanic islands, but thus far not from the Oriental region (see Martens & Savatenalinton 2011). Hence, L. stationis found in this study is the first record of the genus in the Oriental region. This species is so far recorded from several European countries (see Meisch 2000), Turkey ( Altınsaçlı 2001), Japan ( Smith & Janz 2009) and Thailand (present study). As it occurs only in a branch of the Chi River (number 16 in Fig 1 View FIGURE 1 ) with 5 female specimens, it is a rare species in the investigated area. Limnocythere stationis is a thermophilic species ( Meisch 2000). In the Thai locality, it occurred at a water temperature of 30.4 °C, a DO of 3.99 mg /L and a pH of 6.8.
