Remarks. Bates (1866) described L. ovalis based on syntypes from Brazil (Pará). Gilmour (1962) transferred this species to Urgleptes Dillon, 1956 : “I have already given (1959) a preliminary list of species which are to be transferred to the genus Urgleptes Dillon from Lepturges Bates. Below I give a further list of species which require transferring to Urgleptes … Urgleptes ovalis Bates, 1863 , comb. nov. ” Still according to Gilmour (1962): “I have to sincerely thank Dr. S. von Breuning for very kindly assisting me by examining and giving me notes on the types of Bates’s species listed above which are in the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris.” However, the row of punctures close to the posterior margin of the pronotum in L. ovalis does not follow toward sides of the prothorax ( Fig. 60 ), the main feature allowing separating Urgleptes from Lepturges . Therefore, the information from Stephan Breuning to Elphinstone Forrest Gilmour was a mistake.
