Type (lectotype, designated here):— CHILE. Mendoza, May, L. Née s.n. ( MA barcode MA 475883 [digital image!], available at http:// plants.jstor.org/stable/viewer/10.5555/al.ap.specimen.ma475883).

Notes: — In the protologue, Cavanilles (1800) only mentioned that the species was collected by Dr Luis Nee in May without any reference to a specific specimen. According to Stafleu & Cowan (1979), Cavanilles’ type specimens are deposited at MA. The only specimen with that data in MA ( MA 475883) is very well conserved and bears leaves, flowers and fruits available to identify the taxon. Therefore, this sheet is designated here as lectotype.
