Jungermannia trilobata Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 1133. 1753.
"Habitat in Svecia, Anglia, Italia." RCN: 8120.
Type not designated.
Original material: Herb. Linn. No. 1267.13 ( LINN) ; Herb. Linn. No. 1267.11? ( LINN) ; [icon] in Dillenius, Hist. Musc.: 493, t. 71, f. 22. 1741; [icon] in Micheli, Nov. Pl. Gen.: 7, t. 5, f. 10. 1729.
Current name: Bazzania trilobata (L.) Gray ( Lepidoziaceae ).
Note: Isoviita (in Acta Bot. Fenn. 89: 8, 19. 1970) referred to the Dillenian element as "probably the lectotype " while Grolle (in Lindenbergia 1: 197. 1972) designated material in the Dillenius herbarium (OXF) as lectotype, noting a duplicate in H-SOL. However, this material was not seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name.
