7. Impatiens elegans Beddome (1959: 67) View in CoL .
Type citation:—“Anamallay Hills”, “Banks of streams 2500 to 4500 feet, a very elegant species.”
Type:— INDIA. Anamallay [Anamalai] Hills, 3500 to 5000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. (lectotype K 000694957!, designated here).
Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Anamallay, 2000 to 5000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7811 and 7812).
Distribution:— India, endemic and rare (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).
Notes:— Beddome (1859), while describing Impatiens elegans formally, mentioned only locality ‘Anamallay Hills’. Three herbarium specimens collected by Beddome from Anamalai hills are extant for this species, one at K (K000694957) and two at MH (Accession no. 7811 and 7812). Of these, K000694957, is chosen here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having dissected flower parts pasted on the sheet by Beddome.
