Type citation:—“Hab. Shevagerry, top of hills; frequent.”
Type:— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Shevagerry [Sivagiri] hills, August 1836, Wight 338 (lectotype K 000694962!, designated here).
Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Without precise locality, s.d., Wight 307 ( E00174030 !) ; Without precise locality, s.d., Wight s.n. ( K000694961 !) .
Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).
Notes:—In the protologue of Impatiens cordata, Wight (1837) mentioned only precise locality, but did not provide the collection number and date. Three herbarium specimens collected by Wight were traced, one at E (E00174030) and two at K (K000694961 and K000694962). The one best preserved, K000694962, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
