Idaea foedata (Butler) View in CoL
( Figs 54 View FIGURES 22–57 , 66 View FIGURES 63–68 )
Idaea foedata View in CoL : Beljaev & Mironov 2019: 277 (Sakhalin).
Material examined. 2 ♀, Razdolnoe, 26.VII.2019, 16–17.VIII.2020; 1 ♀, Yasnomorskoe, 15–16.VIII.2020.
Distribution. Russia (S RFE: SW Sakhalin), Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu),? North Korea, South Korea,? China.
Remarks. The finding of I. foedata in Sakhalin significantly expands its distribution range to the northeast. All examined specimens were collected on the dry forb meadows situated on the southern insolated slopes.
Its indication from the island in Beljaev & Mironov (2019) is a first true report of this species from Russia. The previous note of this species from the Kurils (Kunashir) ( Vasilenko 1992: 282) was reidentified as Idaea jakima (Butler) ( Beljaev & Mironov 2019) . In the continental Far East true I. foedata has not yet been discovered.
In the BOLD, the specimens of “ Idaea foedata ” from Primorskii Krai (BIN ID: ABA2911, the Sequence ID and corresponding GBIF occurrence specimens see Table 2 View TABLE 2 ), judging by the photo of the specimen with the BOLD sequence ID GWOSU787-11 from this set, are Idaea salutaria (Christoph) , as well as the specimen of “ Idaea jakima ” from Korea (sequence ID GBMNF22112-22). Apparently, the two other “ Idaea foedata ” from Primorsky Krai in the GBIF (occurrence 886474998: Zoologische Staatssammlung 2022, and occurrence 3023329857: Kurina 2022i) also do not belong to I. foedata . Distribution of I. foedata in China needs to be verified, as the specimens of “ Idaea foedata ” in the BOLD (BIN ID: AAB5151), by DNA-barcoding ( Makhov & Lukhtanov 2021), and in appearance correspond to Idaea falckii (Hedemann) . The same applies to the data on “ Idaea foedata ” from China in the GBIF. Due to the frequent errors in species identification in the group I. foedata — I. jakima — I. salutaria (Christoph) by appearance, all their old literature records require revision.
