Diagnosis. The species is most close to H. guarani and H. watsoni . It differs well from them in the male genital structure: the relatively short harpes basally in the valve, with spiky elongated apices, the poorly expressed harpe at the abdominal edge of the valve; the relatively short valves; and the very thick strongly curved phallus.
Notes. Philanglaus invetita Dognin, 1923 was synonymized with watsoni Schaus, 1901 ( Dyar 1940) basing on their external similarity. Study in the morphology of both species proves their species distinctions and attribution of the both taxa to the genus Hypopta .
Distribution. Argentina (Córdoba, Salta, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca and La Rioja Province).
