Hymenasplenium laetum (Sw.) L.Regalado & Prado, Amer. Fern J. View in CoL 101(4): 278. 2011.
= Asplenium laetum Sw., Syn. Fil. 79, 271. 1806.
Range:— Greater and Lesser Antilles; central Mexico south to the Guianas and along the Andes to northwestern Argentina; southeastern Brazil. In Bolivia, known from BE, CO, LP, and SC.
Ecology:— Fairly common; terrestrial in deeply shaded forests or on boulders along streams; to 2000 m. In Ecuador, found to be one of the few species of Aspleniaceae with abundant symbiotic mycorrhizae ( Kessler et al. 2014, Lehnert et al. 2016).
Notes:— Variable in size and pinna shape. May be confused with Asplenium drepanophyllum , but that species has erect rhizomes and greenish petioles. Presumably hybridizes with H. delitescens ( Murakami & Moran 1993) .
