( Figs. 40 – 44 View FIGURES 40 – 48 )
Hylobothynus columbianus Endrödi, 1969: 42 .
Diagnosis. According to Endrödi (1985) Hylobothyus columbianus and H. obesus can be differentiated by the absence of a pronotal basal margin in the former, whereas in H. obesus the pronotum is strongly bordered at its base. Furthermore, the pygidium is strongly punctate in H. columbianus and nearly smooth in the other species. The parameres of H. columbianus are longer and narrower ( Figs. 41–42 View FIGURES 40 – 48 ) than those of H. obesus ( Figs. 46–47 View FIGURES 40 – 48 ). Locality records. ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 40 – 48 ) Holotype, 1♂. Putumayo (1): Mocoa, 530 m, ii.1921, Werner Hopp [ZMHU]. Distribution. Colombia ( Endrödi 1969) and Peru ( Dechambre 1979; Ratcliffe 1981).
Natural history. The species was found in Amazonia at about 530 m elevation.
