Fifth and sixth abdominal segments on slide n° 22 (Box Diptera Rondani 2): Hylemyia brunnescens Zett. , coll. Rondani, n° 1247, Mus. Florenz / Hylemyia nigrescens (Rondani, 1877) , Holotypus ♂, 5 Sternit.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Delia nigrescens View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 46, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 6).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 181) first identified a male specimen received from the Villa brothers as Hylemyia brunnescens Zetterstedt, 1845 and later (1877c: 186) described it as the new species Hylemyia nigrescens . Rondani (1877c: 186) reported “ Insubria alpina [Insubrian (= Lombardy) Alps] as the type locality but the specimen is labeled “ Tirol [= Tyrol]”. However, as the two localities border each other, it can be presumed that the MZUF specimen is the holotype indicated by Hennig (1974c: 905). The MZUF also contains an additional two specimens (non-types): a female numbered “1247” ( Hennig 1974c: 905) and a male numbered “1247” and labeled “Asch 29 6.[1]878” because it was collected at Asch [= Aš, Czech Republic] by F. Kowarz and later donated to Rondani ( Hennig 1974c: 905, Claussen & Thomson 1996: 280). Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Hylemyia ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Hylemya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Hylemyia Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 99).
