Type series. Holotype male, Small stream Panar Laban Hut, Mt Kinabalu, 6º 0 3.641 N 116º 33.968 E, alt. 3330 m asl, 13-ix-2012 ( RMNH). Paratypes: two males, one female (mounted), one nymph, same data as holotype ( RMNH).

Diagnosis. Integument lineated with small ribbons; IV-leg-5 with one swimming seta.

Description. Colour brownish, antenniform setae large. Genital field with three pairs of rounded acetabula. Integument lineated with small ribbons. P2 without anteroventral extension, P2 and P3 ventrally with numerous denticles. Male: Idiosoma ventrally 664 (640–737) long and 575 (526–616) wide, dorsally 632 (583–705) long (small specimen a juvenile); Suture lines of coxae complete. Acetabula 124 long and 184 wide; gonopore 80 long. Length/height of P1-P5: 24/36, 95/70, 80/58, 142/31, 28/14. Length of I-leg-4–5: not measurable. Length of IVleg-4–5: 237, 275, 210; IV-leg-5 with one swimming seta.

Female: Idiosoma ventrally 745 long and 648 wide, dorsally 713 long. Acetabula lying in an arc; genital plate 132 long, pre- and post-genital sclerite each 90 wide. Length/height of P1-P5: 38/36, 106/78, 100/66, 146/32, 146/ 14. Length of I-leg-4–6: 165, 170, 128. Length of IV-leg-4–6: 243, 284, 211; IV-leg-5 with one swimming seta.

Deutonymph: Idiosoma ventrally 437 long and 348 wide, dorsally 421 long. Provisional genital field with two pairs of large acetabula. IV-leg-5 with one swimming seta.

Etymology. Named for its similarity with H. hamatus .

Remarks. The new species is close to H. hamatus with a smooth integument, but differs in the lineated integument, with distinct ribbons.

Distribution. Borneo; known only from the locus typicus.
