Hexapleomera moverleyi ( Edgar, 2008) View in CoL comb. nov.
Pancoloides moverleyi Edgar, 2008: 85 View in CoL View Cited Treatment –90, figs 43–45.
Diagnosis: Adult uropod with five segments; pleopod endopod with one subdistal inner marginal seta, pleopod 3 basis with one inner seta; coxa of pereopod 1 with apophysis; maxillule palp with five distal setae; maxilliped basis with one distal seta, coxa with two setae, endite with paired distal spines; cheliped fixed finger with five ventral setae; dactylus of male cheliped without spinulation along cutting edge; fixed finger with a slight (but not toothlike) proximal apophysis on cutting edge.
Remarks: All information on this species, collected from pylon-scrapings in Port Hobart, Tasmania, can be found in Edgar (2008). It is one of only two known species of Hexapleomera to have five uropod segments; for distinctions from the other, see below. It also differs from H. robusta in having an inner seta on the basis of pleopod 3, a distinct apophysis on the coxa of pereopod 1, only five (as opposed to eight) maxillule palp setae, distal spines on the maxilliped endite, but no proximal tooth-like apophysis on the cutting edge of the fixed finger on the male cheliped. Apart from the number of uropod segments, it differs from H. edgari in having only one pleopod endopod inner seta, only one maxilliped basis distal seta, and only two maxilliped coxa setae. Finally, H. moverleyi differs from all other known species of Hexapleomera in having no spinulation along the cutting edge of the dactylus of the male cheliped.
