Heniartes distinguendus Wygodzinsky, 1947

H. distinguendus has never been mentioned in the literature after its description ( Maldonado 1990). The specimens examined here exhibit some degree of variation not mentioned by Wygodzinsky (1947a): the anterolateral angles of the collar vary from blunt to pointed; the color of the posterior pronotal lobe varies from red to yellowish, but the anterior lobe is always red; the abdomen varies from mostly yellowish with black spots to completely black. H. distinguendus was previously recorded only from an unspecified locality in Ecuador ( Wygodzinsky 1947a). The specimens listed below are new records from Colombia and Venezuela ( Fig. 31 ).
