Heniartes cachabi Wygodzinsky, 1947 View in CoL

The genus Heniartes Spinola, 1840 was revised by Wygodzinsky (1947a), who subsequently described two new species ( Wygodzinsky 1953). Carcavallo et al. (1960) described two further species from Bolivia. With the recent revalidation of H. australis Wygodzinsky, 1947 , the genus now includes 32 species (Forero & GilSantana 2003). H. cachabi was previously known only from the type localities, “Cachabi ” and “Parambá” ( Wygodzinsky 1947a), both located in northwestern Ecuador. This species ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 28 – 37 ) constitutes a new record from Colombia, and extends the distribution of this species to the north.
