Redescription. Length (pronotum + elytra) of males and females 9.7 to 11.4/ 9.6 to 10.6 mm, respectively. Integument black, not very bright. Rostrum as long as pronotum. Thorax. Pronotum ( Figs. 11 View FIGURE 11 A–B) about 1.2 times wider than long, with rounded granules on pronotal disc; with yellowish and very short setae distributed over pronotum. Elytra ( Figs. 11 View FIGURE 11 A–B) about 1.3 times longer than wide, rounded granules distributed from base to apical callus, smaller granules in apical region; yellowish and very short setae in basal and apical thirds of elytra, transverse band of yellowish or reddish brown scales distributed from middle of elytra to apical callus. Male genitalia. Median lobe of aedeagus ( Fig. 18I View FIGURE 18 ) with rectangular apex, with elongate setae confined in center; aedeagal apodemes about 2.2 times longer than median lobe. Internal sac with tiny spicules and armed with trilobate sclerite ( Fig. 19H View FIGURE 19 ). Tegmen ( Fig. 20H View FIGURE 20 ). Manubrium about 1.9 times longer than dorsal lobes. Female genitalia ( Fig. 21H View FIGURE 21 ). Coxites elongate, with short setae at apex; styli cylindrical, with dense and elongate setae at apex. Spermathecal duct very short inserted into posterior margin of bursa copulatrix. Spermathecal capsule ( Fig. 22H View FIGURE 22 ) curved, collum elongate with roughness on inner margin, ramus non-prominent, cornu rounded at apex; spermathecal gland elongate.

Geographical distribution. This species occurs in Brazil ( Wibmer & O’Brien 1986) and here this distribution is expanded to the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Santa Catarina ( Fig. 23I View FIGURE 23 ) .
Associated plants. Bondar (1943) recorded H. ochrifer attacks on seeds Annonacea in Bahia state.
Remarks. Heilus ochrifer differs from the other species mainly in the transverse band of yellowish scales and larger and rounded granules uniformly distributed on the elytra.
