Type material location: CMNZ, Christchurch.

Remarks: This species, originally located in Proharpinia Schellenberg, 1931 , was transferred to Torridoharpinia Barnard and Karaman, 1982 ; both genera differ principally in the aspect of the epimeron 3 and the telson setae. Torridoharpinia hurleyi is easily distinguished from the only other species of the genus ( T. tropicana J.L. Barnard, 1960 ) by the epimeron 3 and article 2 of peraeopod 7.
