Samples: Moen1_ Halimeda

Dimensions: 89.9 μm long, 14.6 μm wide; transapical striae 18in 10 μm, longitudinal striae 16 in 10 μm.

Comments: Although this specimen has the parallel sides and broadly rounded apices of the brackish water species G. balticum (Ehrenberg) Rabenhorst , it is much smaller (even smaller than G. balticum var. diminutum (Grunow) Cardinal, Poulin & Bérard-Therrault and without the strong wave in the raphe) ( Cardinal et al. 1989). There are several simulacrum species for G. balticum (and perhaps other species) that require careful observation to distinguish ( Sterrenburg 1995).
