Description: The cells are 4–7 µm long, rigid and not flattened with a ventral groove and with one flagellum emerging posterior-laterally from the mid-right side of the cell. The anterior part of the cell is somewhat concave and the left margin appears to be higher than the right side of the anterior part. The cells have prominent grooves on both sides of the cell. Rarely observed.

Remarks: This species was also found at a marine site in Korea ( Lee 2002b).
