Gonia interrupta Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 30 (key), 32 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Liguria … prope Tergestum [Liguria … near Trieste ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 9): Gonia Mgn / interrupta Rnd. / 462.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Onychogonia flaviceps ( Zetterstedt, 1838) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 261, Cerretti 2010: 295, O’Hara et al. 2020: 483).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 32) described Gonia interrupta from three specimens of both sexes: “ Unicum exemplar masculum … misit D. Mussino, et unicam forminam observavi collectionis Professoris Bellardi, et nuper specimen alterum maris a D. Schinero accepi [D. Mussini sent a single male specimen, and I observed a single female in Professor Bellardi’s collection, and recently received another male specimen from Mr. Schiner]”. We found just one male syntype in this study. The additional male and female syntypes have presumably been lost .
