Gerygone mathewsae was a nomen novum provided by Mathews (1912b: 449) for Gerygone modesta Pelzeln, 1860 View in CoL (not Gould). Apparently, Pelzeln’s name was not preoccupied by any name proposed by Gould ( Mathews, 1913a: 322, Meise, 1931, Mayr, 1986b: 457), nor have I found such a name.
