Description ( Figs. 1A , 2A , 4–9 ).

Postlarval instars – unknown.

Larva. Dorsum with 117 barbed setae, posterior ones longer (44 µm) than anterior ones (27 µm). Scutum longer than wide, bearing three pairs of scutalae and two pairs of sensillae ( Fig. 1A ). Scutalae barbed and sensillae with fine setules along its entire length. ASE shorter than PSE. One pair of eyes on a plate at each side.

Venter of idiosoma bears 34 setae behind coxae III in six horizontal rows, 2, 8, 8, 6, 6 and 4. Each pair of intercoxal setae between coxae I, II, III. All coxalae setulose.

Gnathosoma. Chelicera claw curved. Palp femur with two thick setulose setae, one ventral and other dorsal; genu with 1 barbed seta; tibia with two barbed and one nude setae. Palp tarsus with 7 setae: 1ω, 1ζ, 5N ( Fig. 2A ).

Leg formula: segmentation formula: 7-7-7. Leg setal formula: Leg I: Ta, 1ω, 1ε, 2ζ, 27–31B; Ti, 2ϕ, 1Cp, 1κ, 24B; Ge, 1σ, 1κ, 19B; Tfe, 7B; BFe, 5B; Tr, 4B; Cx, 1B ( Fig. 4, 7 ). Leg II: Ta, 1ω, 2ζ, 23–25B; Ti, 1ϕ, 1κ, 24–25B; Ge, 1κ, 16B; Tfe, 7B; BFe, 5B; Tr, 4B; Cx, 3B ( Fig. 5, 8 ). Leg III: Ta, 1ζ, 23–25B; Ti, 1ϕ, 20–24B; Ge, 15B; Tfe, 7B; BFe, 4B; Tr, 3–4B; Cx, 3B. ( Fig. 6, 9 ).

IP (average) = 544 + 483 +601 = 1628

Material examined: syntypes, 4 larvae: [ Bochartia mentonensis Marc André. Type. Ubac Foran. 1929]. On Plagiolepis pygmaea Latr. Foret de Menton (Ubac Foran). 7 April 1929. M. André coll. Museum of Natural History of Paris ( MNHN Ac1134 (=13D8), MNHN Ac1135 (=13D9), MNHN Ac1136 (=13D10), MNHN Ac1137 (=13D11)). Also, 2 larvae: [ Bochartia mentonensis Marc André , dans nid de Messor structor . Le 16 mars 1930 à Hyères. H.L Parker coll. fixé sur Messor structor ]. On Pheidole pallidula Nyl. Hyères , France. Museum of Natural History of Paris ( MNHN Ac1132 (13D6), MNHN Ac1133 (13D7)).

From the syntypes, we designate as lectotype the exemplar MNHN Ac1135 for its overall condition and preservation status: Forania mentonensis ( André 1929) , Bulletin du Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle. Paris, 2e sér., 1, 255−259. Museum of Natural History of Paris coll.; The label on the slide is white rounded and handwritten “ Bochartia mentonensis M. André , Type, MNHN Ac1135, Ubac Foran, 1929”. According to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature ( ICZN) the other three specimens from the type series, MNHN Ac1134, MNHN Ac1136 and MNHN Ac1137, become paralectotypes .
