Ficus liebmanniana (Miq.) Miq., Ann. Mus. Bot. Lugduno-Batavi View in CoL 3: 298. 1867
≡ Urostigma liebmannianum Miq., Bot. Voy. Herald View in CoL [Seemann] 5: 195. 1854.
Lectotype (designated here):— PANAMA. Chagres River , Seemann 497 ( BM!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not indicate the herbarium where the type of F. liebmanniana was deposited. Hemsley (1883) suggests the type is at K; however, this specimen was not found there. Berg (2007b) cites the holotype is found at the BM herbarium ; however, this cannot be considered a lectotypification because it was published after 2001 without using “designated here” or a similar phrase ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). Here, we legitimize Seemann 497 ( BM) as a lectotype because it is the only known collection of this species .
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. americana .
