Evansolidia recurvata View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Plate 4G, Figs. 250–257)
Length. Male 7.50 mm; female unknown.
External morphology. Medium size, robust species. General color black with yellow markings; forewings with veins black except yellow medially on clavus, cells transparent; mesonotum with yellow marking basally, lateral margins yellow, yellow marking on each side of middle; pronotum with yellow, broken band on anterior margin, scattered yellow markings below anterior margin; crown with 3 yellow longitudinal stripes; face yellow with broad longitudinal, reddish brown stripe on lateral margins of clypeus; clypellus reddish brown bordered with black stripe in basal half, long black stripe below eyes ( Plate 4G). Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin broadly rounded; crown broad, about as wide as width of eyes, produced distally about ¼ of entire length, lateral margins convergent basally, slightly carinate, depressed on each side of middle; eyes large, semiglobular; pronotum short, about 1/3 as long as crown; mesonotum large, nearly twice as long as median length of pronotum; forewings typical; clypeus elongate, lateral margins broadly convex; clypellus short, about 1/3 as long as clypeus, narrow, base inflated.
Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view small, triangulate with small caudoventral, digitate lobe ( Fig. 250); right subgenital plate long, narrow, glabrous ( Fig. 251); style robust, shorter than aedeagus, in lateral view with medial lobe on outer lateral margin ( Figs. 252, 253); aedeagus long, narrow, tubular, apex strongly recurved in lateral view, small spines in apical 1/3 ( Figs. 254, 255); connective broadly Y-shaped, membranous on each side of middle, stem very short, broad ( Fig. 256); dorsal connective very long, narrow, strap shape ( Fig. 257), attached to base of aedeagal socle ( Fig. 254).
Material examined. Holotype male. COLOMBIA: Amazonas , PNN Amacayacu, San Martin, 3º23’S.– 70º6’W., 150 m., Malaise, 5/5/00–5/1600, B. Amado, leg., M.693 ( IAHC). GoogleMaps
Etymology. The name of this species is descriptive for the recurved apex of the aedeagus.
Remarks: This species has genitalia features most similar to E. gracilitas but can be easily separated by the strongly recurved apex of the aedeagus with very small spines on the distal third of the shaft.
