Evansolidia inflata View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Plate 4D, Figs. 226–233)
Length. Male 6.50 mm (estimated—specimen damaged).
External morphology. Medium size, robust species. General color black with yellow markings. Forewing black with translucent transverse, broad bands; mesonotum black with yellow markings; pronotum black with yellow broken band on anterior margin, broken, transverse, submarginal yellow line on posterior margin; crown black, longitudinal yellow stripe medially and next to eyes, face black; clypeus with broad longitudinal yellow stripe medially and laterally extending nearly to apex of clypellus ( Plate 4D). Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin obtusely angulate; crown broad, nearly as wide as width of eyes, produced distally about ¼ entire length, lateral margins convergent basally, slightly elevated; eyes large, semiglobular; pronotum slightly longer than median length of crown; mesonotum large, about twice as long as pronotum; forewings typical; clypeus long, broad, lateral margins broadly convex, broader basally than apically; clypellus broad, inflated basally, lateral margins constricted medially.
Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view with small triangulate lobe on caudodorsal margin, glabrous ( Fig. 226); left subgenital plate long, narrow, glabrous ( Fig. 227); style robust, shorter than aedeagus, apophysis with outer lateral margin broadly expanded medially in lateral view, small digitate lobe distally ( Figs. 228, 229); aedeagus in lateral view expanded subbasally, narrowed distally, in dorsal view narrow, tubular throughout, 3 processes on dorsal margin, 2 subbasally, l medially, gonopore near middle, exiting dorsally ( Figs. 230, 231); connective broadly Y-shaped, membranous on each side of middle, stem very short ( Fig. 232); dorsal connective long, narrow, broad basally, slightly bifurcate basally ( Fig. 233), attached to base of aedeagal socle ( Fig. 230).
Material examined. Holotype male. COLOMBIA: Amazonas , PNN Amacayacu, Matamata, 3º23’S.– 70º6’W., 150 m., 17 Sep 01/1 O Oct 01, M. 2245, Malaise, D. Chota ( IAHC). GoogleMaps
Etymology. The name of this species is descriptive for the aedeagus which has a unique, medially inflated shaft in lateral view.
Remarks. This species can be distinguished from all known members of the genus for its unique, medially inflated aedeagus.
