Remarks: Euronycha Péringuey, 1904 was synonymized with Triodonta Mulsant, 1842 by Arrow (1917). Since Triodonta Mulsant is a junior homonym of Triodonta Bory de Saint Vincent, 1827, it is invalid and a replacement name was proposed: Triodontella Reitter, 1919 . However, Arrow’s act has of synonymizing Euronycha with Triodonta has been overlooked by all later authors, particularly those working on Mediterranean fauna where Triodontella is currently in use (e.g. Branco & Ruiz 2003). The first step to determine if Triodontella and Euronycha were justifiably synonymized is to select a type species for Euronycha . Euronycha rhodesiana have been selected as type species of Euronycha because it seems to be the most common taxon in South African collections.
