Euidothrips borneoensis View in CoL n. sp.
( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 B & 3A–E)
Female macroptera. Distended body length 1.2–1.3 mm. Body bicoloured ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B). Head yellow but brown between compound eyes, border of dark and yellow areas indistinct; antennal segment I yellow or slightly shaded, II–V yellow, VI–VIII brown with basal third of VI yellowish; pronotum and abdomen uniformly yellow; pterothorax yellow with pleural areas dark brown, lateral areas of meso- and metanota shaded; all legs yellow; fore wing brown with subbasal area yellow, clavus shaded; major setae yellow.
Head ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A) 0.9–1.0 times as long as wide, longitudinally reticulate just behind compound eyes at each side, with raised sculpture between compound eyes dorsally. Antennal segment III bit strongly curved to outside, IV with apical neck, V weakly pedicelate, VI not pedicelate ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 B). Ratio length/width of antennal segments I to VIII as follows: 0.5–0.7, 0.8–1.0, 2.9–3.4, 3.5–3.9, 2.6, 3.2–3.8, 3.0, 6.7.
Pronotum ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A) 0.8 times as long as wide, with irregular shaped reticulations except slightly smooth areas at each side of posterior half, with 26–27 discal setae medially. Metascutum with CPS. Fore wing costal vein with 26–29 setae, posterior fringe cilia undulating. Tarsi 2-segmented.
Abdominal tergites ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 C, D) with median reticulations not longitudinal; tergites I–VI with submedian areas smooth and no posteromarginal fringe behind median reticulations on I-V; tergites III–VII with about 15 small setae on lateral reticulate areas; tergite VIII with spiracles large, about two-thirds of lateral tergal length; tergite IX with S1 setae extending slightly beyond middle of tergite X; sternites ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 E) with 9–15 discal setae arranged in irregular line and smooth posteromedially, reticulations almost same size medially and laterally; III–VII with three pairs of posteromarginal setae, S1 setae slightly in front of posterior margin on III–VI, S1 and S2 setae far from posterior margin on VII. Ovipositor 1.4 times as long as median length of pronotum.
Measurements of holotype female in microns. Total body length 1310; head length 138 (length including anterior prolongation 150), width across cheeks 145; compound eye dorsal length 65, width 40; pronotal median length 140, width 175; metascutal median length 71; fore wing length 685, width at base 70, width at middle 20; abdominal tergite IX median length 80, S1 setae length 38–40; tergite X median length 45; ovipositor length 190. Antennal segments I–VIII length (width) as follows: 15 (30), 28 (35), 59 (20), 75 (21), 45 (18), 48 (15), 15 (5), 25 (4).
