Taxonomy: Chen (1984: as Carcinoplax ), Castro (2007).

Type: Lectotype ñ RMHN D 311; paralectotypes in RMHN and MNHN (designated by Yamaguchi and Baba 1993; see also Fransen et al. 1997).

Type locality: Japan, locality unspecified.

Distribution: East Asia: East China Sea and Yellow Sea, to Pacific coast of Japan ( Castro 2007).

Habitat: Subtidal; substrates muddy and sandy ( Dai and Yang 1991); depths 15 to 110 m ( Castro 2007).
