Habit: perennial herb to subshrub, up to 2 m.
Habitat: in montane forest, often dominated by Dacrycarpus imbricatus , on exposed limestone rocks, 1200 – 1470 m elevation.
Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Indochina, Indonesia to W Melanesia.
Collections: Timor-Leste: Mount Perdido , c. 33 km SSW of Baucau, Pinto & Santana 26, 27 Sep 2006, (DNA photo, L) ; Mount Perdido , ascent of Ossu, van Steenis 18301, 23 Dec 1953 ( LISC) ; van Steenis 18321 ( LISC, BO not seen) .
