Range: — Peru and Bolivia (CO).

Ecology: — Extremely rare; epiphytic in humid forests; 1250–2100 m. Previously known only from the Peruvian holotype, but now also from Bolivia (Kessler 13359, LPB); probably endangered .

Notes: —The large (to 75 × 10 cm), narrowly oblanceolate blades with attenuate bases and scales mostly limited to petioles, costae, and margins are characteristic to this species. The leaf scales are black to dark brown, strongly subulate, and dense. The ones on the petioles and costae are patent, but the ones along the margins are smaller and strongly ascending.
