ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868a: 37.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [Parmese hills ( Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (MZUF: Box 10): Echynomya [sic!] Dmrl / tricondyla Rnd. / 490.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Tachina praeceps Meigen, 1824 ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 270).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 37) described Echinomyia tricondyla from a single female: “[(Foem.) … specimen unicum legi [(female) … I collected a single female]”. This nominal species was described under the generic name “ Echinomyia View in CoL ”, which is an incorrect spelling of Echinomya Latreille ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 78) View in CoL .
