Morenoa orizabensis Dugès, 1905 View in CoL
This species was described by Dugès (1905) based on two specimens from Orizaba, Veracruz. When Smith & Necker (1943) were at the MADUG, only one of the two cotypes (syntypes) was present. The only surviving specimen, HE 126 ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7. A D), was designated lectotype by Smith & Necker (1943). This specimen has the following measurements: TL: 477mm, tail: 84 mm, SVL: 393 mm. The genus that was described by Dugès with this species was dedicated to Prof. Aniceto Moreno from Orizaba, who sent the specimens to Dugès; it now is treated as a synonym of Drymarchon .
Current valid name: Drymarchon melanurus orizabenis (Dugès, 1905) .
