14. Draba mongolica var. chinensis Pohle (1925: 77) View in CoL [ Draba mongolica Turczaninow (1842: 256) ].

Type locality indication: “Sibiria amurensis: Ad fontes Burejae. 1862 F. Schmidt H. A. P. China: Hupeh. Dr. Aug. Henry, no. 6969. … Szetschuan sept. Traj. inter fl. Atu-lunwa et Honton-lunwa. 1885. G. N. Potanin”.

Lectotype (designated here):— CHINA. [Sichuan]. China borealis: Szetschuan septentrionali trajectu inter fl. Atu-Lunwa et Honton-Lunwa. 10 August 1885, [fr.], G. N. Potanin s.n. ( LE!) . Isolectotype and other syntypes in LE!

Pohle mentioned that his new variety occurs in Sibiria amurensis (i.e., in the south of the Russian Far East) and in China. Tracing the Far Eastern syntype was not problematic (even though it is annotated by Pohle as “ Draba mongolica v. burejensis m.”, a never-published name) since only one specimen of D. mongolica from Sibiria amurensis was cited. By contrast, the Chinese syntypes were cited mixed with specimens of other varieties of Pohle and none was annotated as D. mongolica var. chinensis . They were discerned only based on their morphological peculiarities (more elegant habit, somewhat elongated styles, relatively low number of ovules, etc.) stressed in the protologue. One of them, from Hubei, has Pohle’s identification “ Draba mongolica Turcz. ” while the lectotype and isolectotype share his annotation “ Draba mongolica Turcz. forma”. Among the four syntypes equally appropriate as a lectotype, one of the Chinese specimens is preferred as originating from the area suggested by the varietal epithet. Lectotype (middle right-hand specimen) and isolectotype (lower right-hand specimen), each represented by single plants, are mounted on one sheet along with three other collections, one of which is a syntype of the following varietal name.
