Redescription. Length 3.7–4.8 mm, width 1.6–1.9 mm. General color yellow; lateral margins of pronotum, suture and lateral margin of elytra, and outer margins of tibiae black, metasternum dark brown ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 D); abdomen blackish brown in some individuals; some individuals with black elytra but usually yellow apically, and metasternum yellowish brown ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 E); some specimens with dark lateral margins and dark suture of elytra reduced ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 F). First antennomere not modified in males ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 A), length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.5: 0.7: 0.9: 0.9: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.7: 0.9, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 3.2: 2.1: 3.3: 3.7: 3.7: 3.5: 3.6: 3.5: 3.6: 3.3: 4.2; first antennomere more slender in female ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 B), length ratios of antennomeres I– XI 1.0: 0.4: 0.6: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.9, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 3.8: 2.0: 3.1: 3.9: 3.9: 3.7: 3.8: 3.6: 3.4: 3.2: 4.3. Elytra 1.7 x longer than wide; surface with erect setae pale, sparse, and short setae; and fine punctures. Apical margin of last abdominal ventrite with two well developed incisions in male ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 G); medially depressed in females ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 H). Penis ( Figs 8 View FIGURE 8 C–8D) slender, 6.4 x longer than wide, gradually narrowed towards apex; apex of dorsal surface with extremely deep median notch, in some male with notch shorter and a transverse groove present at apical 1/10; apex of ventral surface widely rounded; weakly curved in lateral view, apex with extremely narrow notch between dorsal and ventral surfaces; ventral surface smooth. Internal sac without setae; endophallic spiculae elongate, about 0.7 x as long as penis, median spicula short, apically tapering, ventrally curved in lateral view; lateral spiculae with inner margins covered with tiny spines, basally conjoined; two pairs of dorsal endophallic spiculae with different shapes, one pair short and horn-like, ventrally covered, the second pair slender, curved near apex; three pairs of lateral endophallic spiculae horn-like, located from basal 1/3 to 1/2; one pair of ventral endophallic spiculae long, separated, apices bifurcate. Gonocoxae ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 E) elongate, 6.9 x longer than wide, sides narrowed at apical 1/10 and 3/10; apices narrow rounded; inner margins closely approximate from apex to half, apex with eight or nine setae; extremely slender from midpoint to base but abruptly widened at base. Ventrite VIII ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 F) well sclerotized; spiculum long; apex square, apical margin truncate, with several short setae; disc with three long setae at sides. Receptacle of spermatheca ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 I) weakly swollen and narrow, narrowly separated from pump; pump extremely slender and curved, apically tapering; proximal spermathecal duct wider than receptacle, shallowly projecting into receptaculum.

Differential diagnosis. Doryscus varians (Gressitt & Kimoto) adults are distinct within the genus in possessing sparse, short, erect setae on the elytra.

Remarks. Vietnamese specimens deposited at BPBM and identified by Kimoto (1989) were available for study, they belong to this species.

Distribution. China (Yunnan, Fujian), India, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam.
