Dissomphalus luisae Brito & Azevedo , sp. nov.

( Figs 1F View FIGURE 1 , 5D View FIGURE 5 )

Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized by having the harpe dorsal margin straight with a thick setae in the apex, the basivolsellar protuberance wide and poorly demarcated, the basal cover plate in inverted triangular-shaped.

Description. Head. Mandible with two distal teeth. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal, with one angulate tooth; median clypeal carina low in profile, incomplete apically, straight in profile or nearly so. Frons weakly coriaceous, punctures large and dense. Vertex crest straight or nearly so. Dorsal pronotal area with anterior margin coarse. Tergal process lateral, consisting of tuft with few setae, inside a depression. Genitalia. Harpe entirely wide, apical margin rounded, abaxial margin not projected; gonostipes same size or nearly so, ventral margin excavated almost until outer margin of basivolsella; digitus short, basidorsal corner strongly projected; basivolsella with wide, poorly defined protuberance, without spines; aedeagal ventral valve with apex anterior to apex of dorsal one, wide, progressively narrowing apicad; inner margin sinuous; outer margin sinuous, curved laterad; aedeagal dorsal valve narrow, with two pairs of apical lobe; outer lobe long, narrow, apical margin rounded and posterad; apex of inner median filament anterior to apex of lobe, directed ventrad or nearly so; basal cover plate narrow in lateral part, posterior margin broadly rounded; apodeme extending beyond genital ring.

Material examined. Holotype, 1♂: ECUADOR, Pastaza Prov, Kapawi , 02.55°S 76.82°W, 6–20.III.1996, P. Hibbs, Malaise trap ( LACM). GoogleMaps

Distribution. Ecuador.

Etymology. This species is named after Luisa Massarani, a journalist, science communicator, and writer.

Remarks. It is similar to D. enedinae sp. nov. by having the dorsal margin of harpe straight, and the aedeagal ventral lobes slender. However, D. luisae sp. nov. has harpe wide, the basal cover plate wide in the median region and basivolsellar protuberance poorly delimited, whereas D. enedinae sp. nov. has the harpe narrow, the basal cover plate entirely wide, and basivolsellar protuberance very wide and well demarcated.
