Larva. Remarks. McLellan (1971) associated larvae by examination of the wings and male genitalia from mature larvae. McLellan (1971) synonymised D. thwaitesi with D. serricauda and also suggested D. fusca was possibly the same species due to the similarities in the sclerotisation of the female genital plate. Hynes (1982) synonymised D. fusca with D. serricauda . Examination of specimens held at Sydney Water suggested Yule’s (1997) D. sp. 2 keys to D. serricauda and should be regarded as such.
