7. In conclusion, Dasypterus Peters, 1871 has priority over Dasypterus Reuter, 1872 , rendering Reuter’s name a junior homonym ( ICZN 1999, Art. 53.2, 56), here rejected. There are no available synonyms for Dasypterus Reuter, 1872 , and a new replacement name is required under Art. 60 ( ICZN 1999). Thus, I propose Dasyleistes nom. nov. for Dasypterus Reuter, 1872 . The new name is derived from the Greek adjective δασύς, -εῖα, -ύ, Latinized dasys, dasia, dasy (combining form dasy -), ‘with a shaggy surface, hairy’ and the Greek masculine noun λῃστής, Latinized leistes, ‘robber, pirate’. The name was chosen to parallel Reuter’s (1872) original name, in part, by retaining the initial root. The ultimate root was chosen to highlight a common name of these insects, i.e., minute pirate bugs, and to intentionally utilize the same gender as Reuter’s original name. Thus, the new name is masculine and retains the type species Xylocoris limbatellus Stål, 1860 . This treatment results in four new combinations: Dasyleistes assimilis ( Reuter, 1872) comb. nov.; Dasyleistes discifer ( Stål, 1860) comb. nov.; Dasyleistes limbatellus ( Stål, 1860) comb. nov.; and Dasyleistes ophthalmicus ( Reuter, 1884) comb. nov.
